16 new EU-funded grants amounting to a total of EUR 1,300,000.00 were signed on 9 October 2024 with Turkish Cypriot farmers and food business operators, supporting them to reach EU animal health and food safety standards. The grant award ceremony was attended by representatives of the EU, GIZ International Services, grantees and Turkish Cypriot local bodies.
The support will translate into purchases of crucial equipment and strengthened production processes aiming to ensure EU standards are met in key areas such as milking, production hygiene, manure management and animal welfare and hygiene. These grants demonstrate the European Union’s strong commitment to promote higher standards of animal health and food safety in the Turkish Cypriot community for the benefit of Cyprus and the EU as a whole.
The financial support is provided through the EU-funded eunite: uniting Cyprus for Business programme, implemented by GIZ International Services.
